Playing, Socializing, & Virtual Training in Uncertain Times

View this email in your browser

Oh to be a dog or cat in these very uncertain times! We can all take lessons from their humanity and joy.

In today's mailing, you'll find creative ways to socialize, train, and entertain your dog during a pandemic (especially if you're a newly adoptive parent), as well as news about my upcoming virtual classes and a fun card game called Doglandia that I invented with my kids. It's now available on Amazon! Why play Go Fish when you can play Go Fetch?

DOGLANDIA!

The Doglandia™ Card Game is the first installment of an exciting collection of games developed in Katonah, NY. I created the game, along with my kids and a diverse team of creatives.

Immerse yourself in a world where pets are family and teach yourself and your kids about caring for animals through cute characters and heartwarming imagery, all hand-drawn. My message for tumultuous times is simple: Play more and worry less!

Submit photos of you and your crew playing to share with the global dog-loving community.

VIRTUAL CLASSES

Though coronavirus is revamping the way we meet, my eagerness to help dogs and their people is as strong as ever. I've modified my in-person individual and group class meetings to a virtual format.

Do you or someone you know need help with a new puppy, dog, or rescue? Using the same philosophy found in my books Puppies for Dummies and Modern Dog Parenting, I've arranged three classes (limit 15 participants) for three age ranges. The 8 session class is $200, with back up video tips and downloadables to share with the whole family.

Know anyone who needs private help? I'm happily working with people one-on-one to answer questions, concerns, and frustrations. Individual lessons are billed in 30-minute increments ($95.00 per 30 minutes). Follow-ups are arranged as needed.

Socializing and Stimulating a New Foster, Puppy, or Even an Older Dog

My recent article in the Examiner, Social Life Tips Amidst Corona — For Your New Petdetails how to socialize and stimulate a new dog, foster or even your resident pets during a pandemic. Those who have trained their pets with me will know the value of play-training; it encourages good manners and includes words that are important in everyday interactions (like Come, Drop it, and Stay). Below is an image to reference, print, or share as a reminder!

Remember: Have fun. Try to laugh! Your happiness is contagious.

As we do our best to carry on, putting one paw in front of the other, forcing ourselves to cling to the certainties of everyday life, remember that nothing lifts the spirits more than a daily blend of play, love, and attention. It's the time spent together that carves the most lasting bonds. If there was a silver lining, at least from our pets' perspective, it would be that.
Farewell from my home to yours.
Stay safe and pawsitively playful!
